How to Manage Billing

Complete guide to managing your Issue Pilot subscription and billing

🔐 Who Can Access Billing?

Admin Access Required:

  • Only Slack workspace admins and owners can access the billing portal
  • Regular workspace members cannot view or manage billing
  • This ensures secure financial management for your workspace

1 Access the Billing Portal

There are two ways to access the billing portal:

Method A: Direct Link

  1. Visit https://issuepilot.dev/billing/login
  2. Click the "Sign in with Slack" button
  3. Authorize with your Slack account

Method B: From Homepage

  1. Go to https://issuepilot.dev
  2. Click "Login" in the navigation menu
  3. Click "Sign in with Slack"

2 Understanding the Dashboard

The billing dashboard shows:

📊 Usage Statistics

  • Issues Created: Current month usage vs. plan limit
  • Active Users: Number of workspace members vs. plan limit
  • • Visual progress bars showing your usage

💼 Current Plan

  • • Plan name and monthly price
  • • Subscription status (active, payment_failed, etc.)
  • • Quick action buttons

📦 Available Plans

  • • All available subscription tiers
  • • Features and limits for each plan
  • • Subscribe/upgrade buttons

3 Subscribe to a Paid Plan

Available Plans:

Starter

Growth

To Subscribe:

  1. Choose your plan from the "Available Plans" section
  2. Optional: Check "Billed yearly, get 20% discount" for annual billing (Starter/Growth only)
  3. Click "Subscribe Now" on your chosen plan
  4. You'll be redirected to Dodo Payments checkout page
  5. Enter your payment details (credit/debit card)
  6. Complete the payment
  7. You'll be redirected back to the dashboard with your new plan active

💡 Tip: Annual billing saves you 20% compared to monthly billing on Starter and Growth plans!

4 Update Payment Method

If you need to change your credit card or payment details:

  1. Go to the billing dashboard
  2. In the "Current Plan" section, click "Update Payment Method"
  3. You'll be redirected to a secure payment page
  4. Enter your new payment details
  5. Confirm the update
  6. You'll be redirected back to the dashboard

🔒 Security: All payment processing is handled securely by Dodo Payments. We never store your full credit card information.

5 View Payment History & Invoices

To access your payment history and download invoices:

  1. From the billing dashboard, click "View Payment History"
  2. You'll see a list of all your payments including:
    • Payment date and time
    • Amount charged
    • Payment status (succeeded, failed, pending)
    • Invoice number
  3. Click "Download Invoice" next to any payment to get a PDF invoice
  4. Invoices include full transaction details for your records

6 Upgrade or Downgrade Your Plan

To Upgrade:

  1. Navigate to the "Available Plans" section
  2. Choose a higher-tier plan
  3. Click "Subscribe Now"
  4. Your plan will be upgraded immediately
  5. You'll be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your billing cycle

To Downgrade to Free:

  1. In the "Available Plans" section, find the "Free" plan
  2. Click "Downgrade to Free"
  3. Confirm the downgrade
  4. Your current subscription will be cancelled
  5. You'll have access to your paid features until the end of your billing period
  6. After that, you'll be on the free plan (5 issues/month)

⚠️ Note: Recent plan changes may prevent immediate upgrades/downgrades. Contact support if you encounter issues.

7 Cancel Your Subscription

To cancel your paid subscription:

  1. Go to the billing dashboard
  2. In the "Current Plan" section, click the red "Cancel Subscription" button
  3. Confirm the cancellation
  4. Your subscription will be cancelled but remain active until the end of your billing period
  5. After the billing period ends, you'll automatically be downgraded to the free plan
  6. No refunds are provided for partial months

⚠️ Important: Cancellation cannot be undone. You'll need to resubscribe if you change your mind after cancellation.

Understanding Payment Warnings

You may see different warning messages on your dashboard:

⚠️ Payment Failed (1-2 attempts)

Your payment failed. We'll retry automatically. Please update your payment method to avoid service interruption.

🚫 Subscription Suspended

After 3 failed payment attempts, your subscription is suspended. Update your payment method immediately to restore service.

📅 Past Due

Your payment is overdue. Update your payment method to avoid being downgraded to the free plan.

🔄 Processing

Your payment is being processed. This usually takes a few minutes. You'll be notified once complete.

🏢 Enterprise Plans

For large organizations needing:

  • Unlimited issues
  • Multiple workspace support
  • Dedicated account manager
  • Custom integrations
  • SLA guarantees

🔧 Troubleshooting Billing Issues

Can't access billing portal?

Ensure you're a workspace admin or owner. Regular members cannot access billing.

Payment keeps failing?

Check that your card has sufficient funds, hasn't expired, and international payments are enabled. Try a different card if issues persist.

Can't change plan?

You may have recently changed your plan. Wait until the next billing cycle or contact support for assistance.

Invoice not available?

Invoices are generated after successful payments. Failed or pending payments won't have invoices.
